Mind the Gap

….They were not in a forest; that much was very clear. Instead, the three travellers stood on the platform of a derelict underground railway station. Flickering strips of emergency lighting, set into the low curved ceiling, illuminated the bleak scene. Exit signs with missing letters pointed to empty archways, blocked with criss-crosses of red and white ‘No Entry’ tape. The black and white tiles of the floor were strewn with fragments of wall mosaics. A single set of rusted rails passed below the platform, emerging from one pitch dark tunnel, vanishing into another.
